The Regional Transit Authority (RTA), in partnership with the City of New Orleans’ Office of Resilience & Sustainability (ORS) and City Planning Commission (CPC), has been awarded a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Planning Program grant. The funding, part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s $105 million investment in public transit resilience, will support New Orleans' Equitable Transit-Oriented Communities (ETOC) project. The ETOC planning study aims to support New Orleans’ Climate Action Plan goals and to revitalize underutilized land along the 15-mile East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor, which will connect neighborhoods in New Orleans East and the West Bank to the city's downtown area. Funds from the grant will support procurement of a professional consulting team specializing in market analysis, community and economic development, engineering, and public involvement.
The City of New Orleans announced the launch of the NOLA Walk of Fame, a new 501(c)(3) organization aimed at preserving and promoting New Orleans’ dynamic history by honoring its most influential figures.

Today, Mayor LaToya Cantrell, along with Congressman Troy Carter (LA-2), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan, EPA Region 6 Administrator Dr. Earthea Nance, members of the City Council, and Dr. Beverly Wright, Founder & Executive Director of the Deep South Center for Environmental Justice, commemorated the first demolition within the Gordon Plaza subdivision. This event marks the beginning of a significant redevelopment effort to transform the site into a community solar farm, highlighting the City’s commitment to environmental justice and sustainable development.
The City of New Orleans announces that crews have encountered unexpected delays during the roadway restoration on North Rampart Street. As a result, the lakebound traffic closure between Canal Street and Iberville Street will now remain in effect until Nov. 11. This additional time will allow crews to effectively form and pour the roadway as part of the Hotel Collapse Site Rehabilitation Project.

An ordinance signed by Mayor LaToya Cantrell and spearheaded by the Mayor’s Office of Community Assets and Investment will help bring vacant, historic corner commercial buildings back into commerce, while supporting small businesses. The ordinance was recently approved by the New Orleans City Council.
The City of New Orleans today announced that beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, will close lakebound traffic on North Rampart Street between Canal Street and Iberville Street for approximately one week. This closure is necessary to accommodate roadway restoration as part of the Hotel Collapse Site Rehabilitation Project
The City of New Orleans announces an immediate closure of the Eastbound Broad Street entrance ramp from northbound Earhart Boulevard to vehicular traffic. This action is being taken as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety while the City assesses the condition of the brake structure on the ramp.
