The City of New Orleans Mayor’s Office of Nighttime Economy proudly announces the launch of the New Orleans Music Census, an initiative aimed at gathering comprehensive data to support future policymaking for the city's vibrant nightlife ecosystem.
Effective immediately, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works’ contractor Renegade, formally known as Impetus Infrastructure, LLC, will restrict pedestrian access on the Wisner Boulevard bridge. This temporary closure is necessary to facilitate a full replacement of the DeSaix Bridge and will remain in effect for approximately 8 months.

Pedestrians and bikers are asked to use the following detour: Zachary Taylor Drive > Henry Thomas Drive > Enrique Alvarez Drive > Collin Diboll Circle > Lelong Drive > Esplanade Avenue.
Today, Mayor LaToya Cantrell and mayors from across the nation are attending the 10th Annual African American Mayor’s Association (AAMA) Conference in Atlanta, GA, themed “10 Years of Striving Forward: Our Moment. Our Mission.”
For the seventh year, the City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation is partnering with The Green Project on a Paint Reclamation Project. From Tuesday, April 30 through Saturday, May 4, residents will be able to pick up reusable paint processed from the City’s Annual Household Hazardous Waste Materials Collection Day that was held on April 20. Orleans Parish residents dropped off a significant amount of paint at the event, which welcomed more than 700 vehicles.

The City of New Orleans today announced that one traffic safety camera and four school zone safety cameras will be reactivated on Wednesday, May 1 at 7 a.m. These cameras had been vandalized and have since undergone repairs for reactivation.
The City of New Orleans today announced that starting Saturday, April 27 at approximately 6 a.m., the Department of Public Works (DPW), in close coordination with the Louisiana Department of Transportation (LaDOTD), will perform a two-day closure on Interstate 10 High-Rise to accommodate streetlight repairs. This closure is necessary to facilitate repairs by DPW contractor All Star Electric (see map).
The City of New Orleans was recently awarded $398,500 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Compost and Food Waste Reduction Program (CFWR) to increase the capacity of local composting organizations that will make it more accessible for residents. Local organizations working on food waste reduction and composting programs partnered on the proposal with the City, including Sprout NOLA, Schmelly’s Dirt Farm, REALCYCLE, Compost NOW and Taproot Earth.

The City of New Orleans Department of Public Works’ construction contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC., closed the travel lanes between Harrison Avenue and Germain Street (River Bound) to vehicular traffic today, April 22 at 7 a.m. This closure is anticipated to end Friday, May 17 at 5 p.m. This closure will allow crews to perform subsurface utility repairs as part of the $18.4 million Lakeview South Group B project.
