City Preparing to Move into Third and Final Hurricane Ida Debris Removal Pass

NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation announced that the second debris removal pass from Hurricane Ida is nearly complete.  As of this morning, 72 of the total 73 zones are complete, with the remainder expected to be cleared by the end of the day. 

 

Beginning on Friday, Dec. 10, Ceres Environmental will begin the City's third and final debris removal pass, which is anticipated to be completed by Dec. 23. The Third and Final Debris Removal Pass will be focused solely on missed storm debris collection, which residents can report via 311 through close of business on Friday, Dec. 17. Requests can also be submitted online (https://nola311.org/service-request/) or via phone by dialing 311.

• Only eligible debris generated by Hurricane Ida will be collected as part of the third and final pass.  Debris from private projects and home clean outs should be properly disposed of by the property owner.
• Small quantities of debris should continue to be placed in the City issued trash cart for disposal whenever possible.
• Any work done by contractors is ineligible for debris removal services by the City or its contractors.  The property owner is responsible for the removal and disposal of all debris.
• No new white goods, appliances, or e-waste should be placed curbside.
• Stump removal work will continue into Jan. 2022.

To date, Ceres Environmental has removed 277,076 cubic yards of debris and 16,610 hazardous trees and limbs.
