Today: Job Fair for Juvenile Justice Intervention Center

NEW ORLEANS — The Juvenile Justice Intervention Center (JJIC) this morning will host the first of several planned job fairs. With a new vision, new leadership and a new name, the JJIC is eager to hire staff for its planned expansion.

The job fair will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Center's Training Facility located at 1100-A Milton St. Mayor LaToya Cantrell will visit the job fair in progress, celebrate the unveiling of the Center's new sign, and greet prospective job applicants and staff.

"We are excited to welcome candidates who feel the call to serve their community and join us in our efforts to transform youth lives through restoration, rehabilitation and reentry," said JJIC Director Dr. Kyshun Webster, who was named the permanent director earlier this summer.

The JJIC, previously known as the Youth Study Center, is looking for a large and diverse pool of candidates to fill roles ranging from Juvenile Detention Counselors to administrative positions. Residents with Spanish-language proficiency are strongly encouraged to apply. The job fair is intended to be as streamlined as possible. Potential candidates will have an opportunity to meet with current staff as well as Civil Service so they can be placed on the registry.

Applicants are encouraged to bring ID, resume, and degree or transcripts.

Types of positions include:

  • Juvenile Detention Counselors (all levels, including supervisors)
  • HR Manager
  • Training Coordinator
  • Social Workers
  • Cooks
  • Housekeeping/Maintenance
  • Security, systems control/surveillance
  • Administrative Assistants

The JJIC is a perfect place for a variety of professionals:

  • Spanish-speaking applicants encouraged to participate
  • Social work, criminal justice, public health, and former military are encouraged to come to the job fair and reach out to JJIC directly for additional information.
