April 4, 2024 | From City of New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans will extend the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) between Total Community Action (TCA), Inc. and the City to continue acting as the fiscal agent for the Low Barrier Shelter (LBS) through May 31.
Today, the New Orleans City Council approved Ordinance 34,628 authorizing Mayor LaToya Cantrell to extend the CEA and move it forward for final execution. The ordinance also provides additional funding in the amount of $350,000 to support the LBS and other services for the unhoused population for the duration of the extended CEA.
TCA was contracted as the fiscal agent for the LBS in January to manage and prioritize payroll and vendor payments during the operation transitional period. The original agreement will end on April 30, which initially authorized fiscal management services for a four-month period.
The Mayor's Office of Homeless Services and Strategy and Office of Housing Policy and Community Development maintains management oversight of the LBS.
Odyssey House New Orleans is scheduled to become the official LBS operator effective June 1.
