City of New Orleans Announces 34th Annual New Orleans Film Festival

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced Film New Orleans’ sponsorship of the 34th New Orleans Film Festival taking place in-person from Nov. 2-8, as well as virtually from Nov. 3-13.

“As the fourth largest film production hub in the United States, the City of New Orleans has established itself as a major production center for the film industry that continues to support the success of our local independent film community," said Film New Orleans Director Carroll Morton. "The film industry loves New Orleans. Our food, music, architecture and overall culture is a natural environment for film and creativity, and we are grateful to all the creatives that have utilized our beautiful and diverse city, unique landscape and local talent — both on-screen and behind the scenes. With this year's New Orleans Film Festival, we will continue to showcase our city to visiting filmmakers from around the United States and the world and encourage them to bring their projects to our city."

This year’s New Orleans Film Festival features 145 films, filmmaker panels, pitch competitions and events held at the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) Film Hub and other locations around the city. The Opening Night on Nov. 2 included the screening of three documentaries: “Commuted,” “Musica” and “The Disappearance of Shere Hite.”

Film New Orleans will lead a panel presentation at the CAC Festival Hub titled, “New Orleans: The Best City for Independent Filmmakers” on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 3:30 p.m. Representatives of the local film industry will participate in the panel, including Jason Waggenspack, Stephen Hamner, Thomas Lim and Stevee-Rayne Warren, where they will discuss why New Orleans is a great place for filmmakers to film their next independent project.
