Rent a parking meter

A Meter Rental Permit is required to block off a street parking meter for a defined period of time. Depending on the details of your work, you may need specific special event permits or other permits to comply with the Code of the City of New Orleans.

Requests for meter or paystation space rentals or removals can be processed between 8:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday at Parking Division Office, City Hall, 1300 Perdido Street, Rm 2W89. The application must be completed and left for processing in the Parking Division Office or submitted below. Please call 504-658-8200 to check the status of any open requests for meter rentals or removals. 

Fees

  • Meter Rental
    • $40 application fee
    • $45 service charge per meter
    • Downtown area daily charge per meter = $70
      Downtown area from the Pontchartrain Expressway to S. Claiborne Avenue to N. Claiborne Avenue to Elysian Fields to the River.
    • Other area daily charge per meter = $30 
  • Meter Removal
    • $40 application fee 
    • $305 removal service charge per meter 
    • Downtown area daily charge per meter = $70

    • Other area daily charge per meter = $30

Residential Parking Permit: 8am-4pm (Monday - Friday)

This division is responsible for enforcement of the City ordinances in regard to public safety by managing curb space (on-street parking) in certain densely populated areas. Measures include ticketing and towing violating vehicles, immobilize vehicles, and towing abandoned vehicles. This division is also responsible for establishing and managing residential parking zones throughout the City.
