Grounds Patrol

The Grounds Patrol Division of the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security (NOHSEP) is responsible for facility security and asset protection at municipal facilities, properties and other public areas. 

Duties

  • Proactively patrolling assigned area(s) in a vehicle, on foot or by bicycle.
  • Providing physical security at municipal properties or events to include access control, screening and other security services.
  • Responding to alarms, emergency call-box activations, and suspicious activity complaints in assigned area.
  • Operation of the French Quarter bollard system.
  • Completion of incident reports
  • Assisting other public safety agencies and departments.
  • Conducting safety escorts
  • Opening and securing facilities
  • Provide information, directions and assistance to residents and visitors

The selected candidate must:

  • Be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays and rotating shifts.
  • Be able to work during major special events and emergencies (essential personnel)
  • Be able to work in inclement weather.
  • Be of good moral character
  • Pass a thorough background check
  • Pass all required training including firearms, legal, and defensive tactics.
  • Be able to maintain a Special Officers Commission from the New Orleans Police Department while employed.
