NEW ORLEANS — The Mayor’s Office of Youth and Families and Forward Together New Orleans are proud to have partnered with El Pueblo Nola - NOLA Village, FREE ALAS, @ElCentrola, Our Voice - Nuestra Voz, Familias Unidas en Acción, ECCO and the New Orleans Worker’s Center for Racial Justice to distribute $500,000 to 500 immigrant families in Orleans Parish in need of cash assistance, thanks to the Open Society Foundation’s (OSF) grant for this purpose.

"COVID-19 has disproportionately affected vulnerable communities, including our immigrant youth and families excluded from federal and state assistance. We are grateful to OSF for focusing on this need and allowing us to provide this impactful assistance through Forward Together New Orleans," said Emily Wolff, Director, Mayor's Office of Youth and Families.

"The requests for assistance far outnumbered the fund’s capacity. We are committed to exploring ways to support the various community-based organizations that are providing valuable services and support to these families," said Trenton Butler, Board Manager, Forward Together New Orleans.

More than 2,500 residents from the Greater New Orleans area applied for this program. In addition to the $500,000, $45,000 was distributed to these organizations for necessary capacity-building support so that they may continue to have a positive impact on residents’ lives.
