MAYOR CANTRELL ISSUES STATEMENT FOR THE ISLAMIC HOLIDAY OF EID AL-FITR

NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today issued the following statement for Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic holiday:

"On behalf of the City of New Orleans, I extend my best wishes to our Muslim brothers and sisters in celebration of the Islamic holiday, Eid al-Fitr. This day marks the end of Ramadan and the end of the Muslim holy month. During this time, I share in your joy and celebration.

"New Orleans is proud of the thriving Muslim community in our city and recognizes their impact on our history and culture. Today, we extend our love to everyone in New Orleans and across the world celebrating this honorable holiday.

"I want wish you a joyous holiday, and may the prayer of peace, strength and service continue to be with you. Eid Mubarak."
