September 30, 2019 | From City of New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS — Mayor LaToya Cantrell today issued the following statement, in celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year which began yesterday evening:
"On behalf of the City of New Orleans, I join our Jewish community in celebrating Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the New Year for members of the Jewish faith and culture.
"This is a special time of reflection and rejuvenation for our Jewish Community, as well as people of all faiths. During this time let us all be reminded of our shared responsibility to do the work of “Tikkun Olam,” meaning “world repair”. In celebrating the coming of a new year, we remember our responsibility to serve one another and our communities.
"We cannot overlook nor overstate the contributions and influences the Jewish community has brought to New Orleans and throughout the world. We wish you all an enriched and blessed New Year filled with health and happiness for you and your family. L’shanah Tovah!"
