January 22, 2024 | From New Orleans Fire Department
On Monday, January 22, 2024, at 10:24 a.m. The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a high-pressure gas leak at the corner of Mirabeau and Baccich Street. Street crews ruptured a gas line while doing street repairs. Precautionary evacuation of a one block radius of the leak was issued by the NOFD Hazardous Materials Unit. Approximately 17 residents were evacuated. Entergy Gas stopped the leak at approximately 11:41 a.m., and the residents were allowed to return to their homes.
Ten NOFD units, supported by twenty-one Fire Operations personnel were used to bring this incident under control. There were no reported injuries.
