The Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute (EDI), in collaboration with the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) and the Black Association of New Orleans Firefighters (BANOFF), hosted the 2nd Annual Carl Holmes EDI Youth Initiative on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in Room 168 of the Professional Schools & Sciences Building at Dillard University.
The New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) recognizes the Carl Holmes Executive Development Institute (EDI) for 35 years of excellence in fire service leadership education and professional development, as well as its 25 year partnership with Dillard University. Since its founding in 1991, Carl Holmes EDI has provided leadership training and professional development opportunities for more than 2,500 fire service personnel worldwide.
On Friday, May 29, 2026, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) conducted a promotional ceremony for twenty members receiving in-service promotions to the positions of Apparatus Operator, Fire Captain, District Chief, and Deputy Chief.
