January 6, 2025 | From New Orleans Fire Department
On Monday, January 6, 2025, at 3:32 p.m. The New Orleans Fire Department Fire Operations personnel were dispatched to the scene of heavy smoke coming from Touro Hospital’s rooftop at 3525 Prytania Street. Upon arrival at 3:33 p.m., the first responding company requested a second alarm minutes after encountering the fire. Fire personnel accessed the rooftop and discovered that pallets of tar rolls and the left side of the building’s rooftop were fully involved in flames. Due to the flames and smoke observed by fire personnel on the rooftop, a third alarm was activated to assist in containment efforts and to ensure that the fire did not spread to other areas of the building. NOFD personnel we able to quickly, preventing any further damage to the structure. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. 911 Call Received: 3:32 pm 1st Alarm: 3:32 pm 2ndAlarm: 3:39pm
