Hosted by the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office, the 1st Quarter Neighborhood Leaders’ Roundtable provided an opportunity for leaders and residents to discuss public safety matters and to learn from each other.
Police Superintendent Shaun Ferguson discussed police reforms, crime trends, ethical policing, and recruitment of new officers.
Fire Chief Roman Nelson shared information not only about NOFD’s response to emergencies, but also its proactive emergency prevention work, its first responder role outside of fires, and its key role in incident management.
Finally, Office of Criminal Justice Coordination Commissioner Tenisha Stevens informed all about its critical policy and coordination role within the local justice system including information sharing technology, electronic monitoring, and disparities in the criminal justice system.

On Saturday June 25, community leaders from across New Orleans participated in the 2nd Quarter Neighborhood Leaders’ Roundtable at the City’s Mosquito, Termite, Rodent Control Board building.
The roundtable attracted over 175 registrants to discuss the main topic, Quality of Life, with guest speakers Tammie Jackson, Director of Safety & Permits, and Thomas Mulligan, Director of Code Enforcement, along with Code Enforcement’s head of lot abatement, D’Artanian Stovall. Considerable information was shared, and then the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office guided attendees through the fun “Blight, Not Blight” exercise where attendees voted with signs whether shared imagery revealed blight. Many questions were answered during the roundtable’s engaging activity and by the guest speakers during the official Q&A period.
Infrastructure

On Saturday, September 24th, the Mayor's Neighborhood Engagement Office held our 3rd Quarter Neighborhood Leaders’ Roundtable on Infrastructure! Residents and leaders had the opportunity to discuss infrastructure with Deputy CAO of Infrastructure, Joe Threat, Director of the Sewerage and Water Board, Ghassan Korban, and Acting Director of the Department of Public Works, Sarah McLaughlin Porteous.
The guest speakers shared their visions and new initiatives for their respective sectors. The roundtable was held at Lakeview Christian Center, 5885 Fleur de Lis Drive.
Neighborhood leaders received information to take back to their organizations and communities.
