We discussed Quality of Life this quarter! 

We heard from: Code Enforcement, Lot Maintenance, Blight Reduction, Zoning Enforcement, and from the City’s new Director of Homeless Services & Strategy.

Infrastructure

Saturday morning, June 24th, over 120 neighborhood leaders from across the entire city attended Neighborhood Engagement's 2nd Quarter Neighborhood Leaders' Roundtable. 

Guest speaking on the roundtable's infrastructure topic were Sarah McLaughlin Porteous, Acting Director of the Department of Public Works, and Steve Nelson, Deputy General Superintendent for the Sewerage and Water Board.  Nikki Polk, Director of Special Projects and Strategic Engagement for Roadwork NOLA, delivered the Departmental Highlight before the formal program. 

Neighborhood leaders were updated on the work that DPW and S&WB do, the ongoing priorities, and were able to ask dozens of questions.  It was a fun and informative Saturday morning! 

Public Safety

On Saturday, September 23rd the Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office hosted its 3rd Quarter Neighborhood Leaders’ Roundtable.  Two hundred neighborhood leaders registered for the roundtable on Public Safety at the Mosquito, Termite, Rodent Control Building. 

Interim NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, NOFD Superintendent Roman Nelson, Criminal Justice Coordination Commissioner Tenisha Stevens, and Public Safety Director John Thomas were the featured guest speakers at the event.  Significant information was shared, and there was robust opportunity for residents to ask questions of these public safety leaders.
