NEW ORLEANS CITY PLANNING COMMISSION NOTICE

On September 5, 2024, the New Orleans City Council introduced Motion No. M-24-493, which established the “Non-Commercial Short-Term Rental Special Exception Interim Zoning District” (IZD), which prohibited the issuance of NSTR Special Exceptions. The prohibition applied to any NSTR Special Exception application received after September 19, 2024. An application was deemed to have been received if a request for a Neighborhood Participation Plan (NPP) neighbor list was submitted by the deadline.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING UPCOMING NSTR LOTTERY

The next NSTR Lottery will take place on Sept 29, 2025. The application period will be open September 7-13, 2025. Office hours will be held September 8-12, 2025 from 9am-4pm at 1340 Poydras St on the 8th floor.

Important Information for NSTR License Holders

All NSTR Licenses expired on 6/30/2025. The deadline to renew was 6/16/2025. Multiple emails were sent out through the mailing list on 5/30, 6/12, 6/25 & 7/2, which detailed the renewal process. A copy of these emails was posted to the Announcements section of the STR Website.

NSTR License Renewal Period Begins Tomorrow! 

All issued NSTR Licenses are set to expire on June 30, 2025. You should have the option to renew your license in your OneStopApp account as early as May 31, 2025. Permitholders who remain in good standing with the Department of Safety and Permits will be eligible to apply for renewal of the NSTR License

Attention Commercial Short Term Rental License Owners

Commercial STR License Owners, please be reminded of the updated renewal process. 

As of June 8, 2023, pursuant to CZO 19.4.A.20, new Commercial Short Term Rental applications can no longer be accepted. The application is no longer available on the One Stop App.

NSTR LOTTERY UPDATE

The applications received during the NSTR application period resulted in one square requiring the lottery. The two applicants were notified and the lottery was held at 1pm today.
