Boil Water Advisory for NOLA East Bank

The Sewerage & Water Board issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the East bank of New Orleans, including the Lower 9th Ward and New Orleans East, due to a drop in water pressure.

Early Morning Two-Alarm Fire Destroys Bakery

Tuesday morning at 3:46 a.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire in a commercial structure at the corner of Elysian Fields Ave and Robert E. Lee Blvd. NOFD firefighters arrived on the scene of the Buttermilk Drop Bakery, located at 6220 Elysian Fields Ave, at 3:53 a.m.  Upon arrival flames were already through the roof with most of the bakery’s interior already fully involved, a second-alarm was struck shortly after at 4:05 a.m.

Fire Prevention Week "Don't Wait, Check the Date"

It's time for Fire Prevention Week, and from October 9th-15th the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) has joined forces with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the American Red Cross (ARC) and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal (LSFM) to inform local residents about checking smoke alarm expiration dates with its 2016 campaign of “Don’t Wait, Check the Date!
