On Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 8:02 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a call of dwelling on fire in the 2600 block of Ursulines Ave. The first NOFD unit arrived at 2635-37 Ursulines Ave at 8:07 a.m., finding an occupied two-unit dwelling with heavy smoke exiting the rear-right side of the residence.

Street crews ruptured a gas line while doing street repairs. Precautionary evacuation of a one block radius of the leak was issued by the NOFD Hazardous Materials Unit.
