On Monday, January 26, 2026, at 6:27 p.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 2251 Baronne Street. Upon arrival, companies encountered heavy fire in a two-story dwelling, with flames coming from the rear of the building.

Mayor Helena Moreno Responds to Car Arsons in Bywater

In response to last night's arsons in the Bywater neighborhood, Mayor Helena Moreno released the following statement:

"I have directed NOFD Superintendent Roman Nelson to work with extreme urgency to identify and work with law enforcement to apprehend whoever is responsible. I have also directed him to call in any needed additional resources from federal and state partners to ensure swift justice. I will not allow anyone to terrorize our neighborhoods or cause this level of destruction and fear. We will find who is responsible and hold them accountable to the full extent of the law. It is a blessing and I am grateful that no one was injured or killed by the fires." - Mayor Helena Moreno

Two Residents Rescued from Three-Alarm Fire on Prytania St.

On Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 11:55 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to a reported building fire in the 3000 block of Prytania St. NOFD Fire Operations personnel arrived on the scene of 3028 Prytania St, a three-story apartment building, housing eight units and approximately ten residents, at 11:59 a.m.
