Traffic Advisory: Temporary Lane Closures of Tulane Avenue (S. Prieur St. to S. Pierce St.)

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 12, the City of New Orleans Department of Park & Parkways will temporarily close the interior lane, north and south bound of the 1900 - 4000 blocks of Tulane Avenue, approximately three days to accommodate the relocation of the 24 Alta Magnolia trees. Traffic control measures will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians to alternative routes.

Uptown Railroad Quiet Zone Nearing Finalization; Awaiting Final Signatures to Begin Construction

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Since 2019, District A Councilmember Joe Giarrusso has been working with neighbors, the current Administration, and the New Orleans Public Belt to complete the Uptown Railroad Quiet Zone. The Railroad Quiet Zone will run along the River from the Oak Street crossing to Nashville Avenue, crossing through Audubon Park and Children’s Hospital campus. Quiet Zones allow trains to pass through intersections without being obligated to sound their horn, barring an emergency.

CITY OF NEW ORLEANS CELEBRATES RENOVATION COMPLETION OF NOFD ENGINE 7

Mayor LaToya Cantrell, the City of New Orleans Capital Projects Administration, and the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) today celebrated the completion of comprehensive renovations to Engine 7 located at 1441 St. Peter St. This $1.3 million investment in upgrading critical public safety infrastructure was funded using Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) dollars and City bonds.

Suspect Arrested by NOPD in Seventh District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Robert Torregano (black male, DOB: 09-01-2000) in its investigation of a shooting that occurred on January 1, 2026, in the 7500 block of Lawrence Road and left two people injured, including a 4-year-old child.
