On Thursday, Feb. 20, the Department of Public Works' contractor, Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC, will begin implementing temporary lane closures on Magazine Street between Nashville Avenue and East Drive to mill and resurface the roadway, including both travel and parking lanes. Crews will generally work weekdays between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

This Carnival Season, the City of New Orleans Office of Resilience & Sustainability is again partnering with New Orleans & Company, and Grounds Krewe, with support from sponsors like Every Can Counts, Entergy New Orleans, and Coca Cola, as well as other partners, on the Recycle Dat! initiative, promoting a more sustainable carnival season. This year, members of the public can expect new and expanded programming as Recycle Dat! continues to grow.

As the city gears up for another exciting Mardi Gras season, the New Orleans Health Department (NOHD) is once again ensuring the health and safety of paradegoers with its Mardi Gras First Aid Stations. Operated in partnership with New Orleans Emergency Medical Services (NOEMS), NOLA Ready Volunteers, the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), the American Red Cross, and official sponsor LCMC Health, these stations provide immediate medical assistance for minor injuries, dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other non-life-threatening conditions. By offering on-site care, the NOHDFirst Aid Stations help alleviate strain on local hospitals and emergency services while keeping festivalgoers safe.
With the recent consolidation of the Joint Infrastructure Recovery Request (JIRR) Program under the leadership of CDM Smith, MB3/Civix, and the Department of Public Works, the City of New Orleans has reassessed the program’s funding to chart the best course forward.

Today, the NOPD announced the promotion of multiple officers during a ceremony held at Gallier Hall. The promotions include two officers promoted to the recently revived rank of major after more than two decades.
Pursuant to its critical incident recordings release policy, the NOPD today (February 17, 2025) released to media video footage from the investigation of an officer-involved shooting incident that occurred on February 6, 2025, at the intersection of Poland and North Claiborne avenues.
