Purpose

The Board of Liquidation, City Debt has the power to issue bonds in any manner permitted by state or municipal law and the City Charter and to manage its affairs, under the City Charter on behalf of the City of New Orleans, in accordance with the provisions of applicable state or municipal law. 

Composition

Nine members.

  • The Mayor;
  • Two councilmembers at-large; and
  • The Mayor appoints six members with the approval of the City Council from a list of names submitted jointly by a committee consisting of the President of the Board of Liquidation, who shall chair the committee, and the Presidents or Chancellors of Dillard University, Loyola University, Southern University of New Orleans, Tulane University, the University of New Orleans, and Xavier University.
