Purpose

The Mayor’s Advisory Council for Citizens with Disabilities represents people with disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act to the Mayor, the City Council, the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Section and persons in the City of New Orleans. The Council seeks remedy and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Title II. 

 

The ongoing scope/purpose of the advisory council is to address issues of community-based needs, including, but not limited to the following:

1. Transportation.

2. Housing.

3. Employment.

4. Accessibility.

5. Telecommunicaitons.

6. Educaton.

7. Recreational Facilities.

8. Legislative Initiatives.

9. Other related activity assigned by the Mayor.

Composition

Voluntary council although the Mayor may appoint specific persons to serve on the council.
