Purpose
The Civil Service Commission oversees the Civil Service Department, decides employee appeals of disciplinary action, and adopts rules and establishes policies that regulate the conduct of labor and management in the merit system.
Composition
Five members. The City Council appoints one member from a list of three people provided by each nominating authority below:
- The presidents or chancellors of Dillard University, Loyola University, Tulane University of Louisiana, and Xavier University; and
- Employees in the classified service of the City of New Orleans by means of an election.
