The New Orleans Health Policy division identifies ways to improve the health of New Orleanians through policy initiatives including development of departmental regulations, local ordinances, and state and federal policy.
The New Orleans Health Department is excited to announce the selection of six community-based organizations as sub-recipients to receive $1.5 million American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds through the Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) process:
Programs Addressing Food Insecurity and Food Access
Violence Interruption & Conflict Mediation Programs
An open bid was made public in July to highly qualified community-based organizations with an established history that can deliver programs and services to 1) improve household food security and improve access to nutritious foods for New Orleans residents who were economically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and 2) to support community-based organizations in developing programs that interrupt adult and/or youth violence in the community. These funded projects are expected to begin by early 2024.
